3 grants and new board composition

The board of Ivalo & Minik Fonden has awarded three grants for study purposes abroad. The recipients are:

Hans Peder Kirkegaard has received a grant for one year internship in the United States as a follow-up to his Master Education. The internship is spread over four jobs that are Maine International Trade Center, Rambøll Environ, Eimskip and The Port of Maine.

Majken Djurhuus Poulsen is geologist at GEUS and has in connection with her Ph.D. received a grant to study at “The Gemmological Association of Great Britain” in London, England.

Melisa Larsen graduates as bachelor in Arctic Technology at DTU this summer. She has received a grant to her further studies at “Master of Geographic Information Science” in Minneapolis, USA.

The grants are funded based on donations from Royal Arctic Line A/S, Royal Greenland A/S, GrønlandsBANKEN’s Erhvervsfond and NunaFonden.

Awarding these grants was the last task for the now former board. According to the charter of Ivalo & Minik Fonden a board sits for four-year terms with the possibility of reappointment.

The new board has this composition:

Chairman Minik Rosing (Appointed by Ilisimatusarfik Kalaallit Nunaata Universitetia)

Vice Chairman Juliane Henningsen (Appointed by NunaFonden)

Johan Lund Olsen (Appointed by NunaFonden)

Christian Schønau (Appointed by the Royal Court of The Crown Prince Couple)

Mikael Kristensen (Appointed by the Department for Education)

Johan Lund Olsen has replaced Michael Metz Mørch and Mikael Kristensen has replaced Palle Christiansen. Minik Rosing, Juliane Henningsen and Christian Schønau have all been re-appointed.

Ivalo & Minik Fonden continues to provide grants. Next deadline is 1 October 2016. The new board looks forward to receiving many good applications.

Grants for an international further education or an international internship outside of Greenland and Denmark

Ivalo & Minik Fonden invites interested and qualified candidates to apply for one of our grants.

The purpose of our grants is to provide financial support for Greenlanders who want to take a further education or a continuing education including an internship in another country than Denmark and Greenland.

Applicationform and other requirements can be found on our website www.imf.gl.

Ivalo & Minik Fonden must receive your application no later than February 15th 2016.

Distribution will take place so that the recipients can begin their education or internship in the autumn of 2016.

Grants for more than half a million

The board of Ivalo & Minik Fonden has at a board meeting awarded grants to seven Greenlanders to study abroad. There are awarded grants for a little more than half a million danish kroner. That satifies the chairman Minik Rosing:

“I hope that our grants can help provide students with some skills and experience to benefit both themselves and Greenland. I also hope that all grant recipients will have some good stays and that they subsequent will return to Greenland and use the knowledge they have acquired, “he says.

Royal Arctic Line A/S, Royal Greenland A/S, GrønlandsBANKEN’s Erhvervsfond and NunaFonden have donated the money Ivalo & Minik Foundation awards and for that Minik Rosing is extremely grateful.

“Let me just say it like it is. If we did not get donations, we could not award grants. I would therefore like to thank our contributors that it is possible for us to support those students who wants to study abroad,”says Minik Rosing.


The grant recipients

Andrea Christiansen has received a grant so she can attend one semester at Vancouver Island University in Canada in connection with her education to become a journalist from Ilisimatusarfik.
Angùnguak Thomas Kleist Jepsen has received a grant so he can study three semesters at Curtin University in Australia in connection with his education in geology at the University of Copenhagen.
Birthe Rasmussen is studying to be a nurse at Ilisimatusarfik. She has received a grant to complete a traineeship as a nurse in Tanzania via Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke.

Hans Peder Kirkegaard has received a grant to take a Master in International Trade at Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina in the United States.

Mikaela Augustussen is a nurse and is currently studying a Ph.D. course at Ilisimatusarfik entitled “Palliative care for Greenland patients with advanced cancer in Greenland and Denmark.” She has thereby received a grant to do research on Norway’s Arctic University of Tromsø.

Mona Koch Madsen is a nurse. She has received a grant to study to be an intensive care nurse at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.

Uiloq Mathæussen is bachelor from Ilisimatusarfik in Language, Literature and Media. As part of her further education, she has to study a semester at Université De Versailles St. Quentin En Yvelines in France and she has received a grant to do so .

Ivalo & Minik Fonden continues to provide grants. Next deadline is February 15, 2016. The Board looks forward to receive many good applications by then.

Ivalo & Minik Fonden awards grants worth 399,000 kroner

The board of Ivalo & Minik Fonden has at its meeting on 20 March decided to award six grants worth  399,000 kroner

The grant recipients
Alex Amâsa Olsen has received a grant to study for a semester at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, as part of his engineering degree at the Technical University of Denmark.

Ane Eva Lange has received a grant so she can attend one semester at Norway’s technical-scientific university in Trondheim in connection with her engineering degree at the Technical University of Denmark.

Ann Eileen Lennert has received a grant for her PhD studies in Norway’s Arctic University of Tromsø. She has to examine how climate changes will affect the Greenlandic nature in the long term.

Inuuteq Storch has received a grant to study photography at ICP – International Center of Photography –  in New York.

Nick Bæk Heilmann has received a grant to read his master’s degree in Contemporary China Studies at Renmin University in Beijing, China.

Trine Jul Larsen has received a grant to read a Master of Public Health in Norway’s Arctic University of Tromsø.

Ivalo & Minik Fonden awards grants

The Board of Ivalo & Minik Fonden has at a meeting on 12 September decided to award four grants totaling more than 100,000 danish kroner, which means that the total amount of grants for 2014 is nearly 450,000 danish kroner.

“NunaFonden, Royal Greenland, Royal Arctic Line og GrønlandsBANKENs Erhvervsfond  have donated the money we hand out, so it is very much their merit that we can support the ambitious young people. I would like to thank them for their contribution, “says Minik Rosing, who is president of the board. He continues:

The grant recipients
Aviaaja Birkholm has received a grant for an internship at a maternity clinic in Bali in connection with the completion of her education  as a midwife at Professionshøjskolen Metropol.

Kathrine Naaja Rasmussen has received a scholarship to complete her clinical internship at the University Hospital in Bergen (Norway) in connection with her medical studies at the University of Copenhagen.

Qivioq Kern Kreutzmann has received a grant for an internship at Vator.tv in San Francisco in connection with the fact that she is one of the selected participants in the Danish entrepreneurship program “Entrepreneurs abroad”.

Anna Sørensen has received a grant to a final internship in an international organization or the like in connection with her ​​studies at the Department of Media, Cognition and Communication at the University of Copenhagen

The main contributors extends agreement for three years

Ivalo & Minik Fonden is named after Her Royal Highness Princess Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda and His Royal Highness Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander. Together with their parents – The Crown Prince Couple – they were both present when Ivalo & Minik Fonden’s main contributors – NunaFonden, Royal Greenland, Royal Arctic Line and GrønlandsBANKENs Erhvervsfond – extended their support up to and including 2017.

That took place at a reception at The University of Greenland – Ilisimatusarfik – at August 8 in connection with the royal family’s summer cruise to Greenland.

Grants from Ivalo & Mink Fonden to three ambitious Greenlanders

The Board of Ivalo & Minik Fonden has decided to award grants for a little more than 300,000 kroner. The grants are awarded to three talented and ambitious Greenlanders who were selected from a larger number of applicants.

“We are very happy to support the grant recipients and we wish them the best of luck with their studies,” says president of the board Minik Rosing. He continues:

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank NunaFonden, Royal Greenland, Royal Arctic Line and GrønlandsBANKENs Erhvervsfond as only their donations have made it possible to award the grants.”

The grant recipients
Aviâja Egede Lynge has received a grant to complete the program “Human Rights Advocates Program” at the Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University in New York, USA.

Qupanuk Egede has received a grant to complete her education to become a Mining Engineer at Curtin University in Kalgoorlie, Australia.

Monika Paulli Andersen has received a scholarship to study a semester at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. The semester is part of her education at Copenhagen Business School where she is studying Master of Business and Development Studies.

Ivalo & Minik Fonden intends to convene a new round of applications in May 2014 with a deadline of 1 september.
